Production has effectively stopped on the third instalment of Guardians of the Galaxy ever since Disney fired the director and co-writer of the franchise, James Gunn. He was dismissed from the project after a series of offensive tweets came to light, dating back to 2008.

This week, the cast of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 wrote an open letter asking Disney to reinstate Gunn. To help unpack this controversy, Todd VanderWerff, critic at large for Vox, joins q guest host Ali Hassan live from Los Angeles. Listen above.
