'Songs aren't finished 'til you play them for people': Steve Earle honours his friend Guy Clark with new album

Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Steve Earle owes a lot of his success to his friend and mentor Guy Clark, who helped him gather momentum in his early career.

Clark may not be a familiar name, but he was a huge force in the folk and country music scene. When he passed away a few years ago, Earle decided he needed to honour his dear friend.

That idea has now come to fruition with Guy, a tribute album full of some of Clark's best songs.

Sitting down with host Tom Power in the q studio, Earle shared some fond memories of his friend and performed a few songs from the record. We also asked him to weigh in on today's country music industry including the controversial song Old Town Road. Earle's tribute album Guy is out now.
