Giles Martin on remixing Sgt. Pepper: 'We're opening up a body that's 50 years old'
Giles Martin, son of legendary Beatles producer George Martin, talks about remixing the Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album.
Last week, the music world celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. The album was produced by the late, legendary George Martin and was recently re-released to mark the 50 years since the album's release.
Giles Martin, George Martin's son, was behind the remixed version of the album. Martin talks to Tom Power about why he undertook the task of remixing the album, and whether changing an album that has been so revered in pop music history was intimidating. Martin also reflects on the creative process his father and the Beatles went through to create the album and reflects on its present day relevance.
