How Wonder Woman's Eugene Brave Rock jumped from stuntman to a summer blockbuster

In a summer movie season that has brought all sorts of box office bombs, Wonder Woman has been one of the few success stories.

The blockbuster origin story brought to life by Gal Godot has been seen as a major breakthrough in the hyper-masculine world of superheroes. Directed by and starring women, it has helped break barriers. Now, as the hype around the film and it's great success begins to slow, there's a second breakthrough that has people talking.

It involves Eugene Brave Rock, a Canadian actor who grew up in the Blood Tribe of Southern Alberta. He plays the role of Chief, one of Wonder Woman's key partners as she takes on the evil god Aries. It's a medium-sized role that is turning Brave Rock into a major role model. Especially since his Blood Tribe heritage takes centre stage in one of the biggest movies of the year.

Eugene Brave Rock talks to q from Sacramento, Calif., about Wonder Woman, holding on to his Indigenous roots, and how he went from being a stuntman at Disneyland Paris to being a part of the biggest movie of the summer.
