Is Britta Johnson Canada's Stephen Sondheim?
Composer and lyricist Britta Johnson talks about her new musical, Life After, a 'coming-of-age story that's coloured by lost.'
Britta Johnson is the Toronto composer and lyricist of the musical Life After.
It tells the story of what happens to a young woman named Alice after tragedy strikes her family. Life After has been called hugely ambitious, revolutionary, and even Stephen Sondheim-esque.
Tom Power recently spoke with Johnson about the inspiration behind her new show.
Life After is onstage in Toronto at the Berkeley Street Theatre from now until Oct. 22.
