Siddhartha Khosla is an 'invisible' but crucial character on the hit show This Is Us
Back in the day, writing for TV meant coming up with a theme song, some incidental music and kicking back and watching the royalties come in. But for the TV family drama This is Us , which stars Mandy Moore and follows the lives and connections of siblings born on the same day, the process is very different.
The music on the drama completely changes with each episode — it develops with the characters, adjusting to their individual story lines, and travels through time from the '80s and '90s to the present.
Siddhartha Khosla from the band Goldpot is the musician behind the series' music and he says composing for This is Us feels like writing a new album for each episode.
We speak to Siddhartha Khosla about the challenges of writing music for This is Us.
The soundtrack to the series is out tomorrow (Sept. 15) and This is Us is up for five Emmys at this weekend's awards. The show's second season begins Sept. 26.
