For the first time in Canadian television, a Black woman is starring in a primetime drama. In CBC's Diggstown, Vinessa Antoine plays a corporate lawyer named Marcie Diggs who dedicates herself to working in legal aid.

Antonie's character works in North Preston, N.S., which is the oldest and biggest Black community in Canada. She spoke to Q's Tom Power about this fascinating history and her role on Diggstown.
