Jan Lisiecki takes on Schumann on his latest album
Jan Lisiecki discusses his love for Schumann's music, why he has decided to perform his music on his latest album, and being a young classical musician.
On Jan Lisiecki's latest album, Schumann, the Canadian classical musician takes on the music of famous German composer, Robert Schumann.
When asked why he chose Schumann for this record, Lisiecki simply said, "It's not a matter of if it's the right time or not — it's the simple feeling of how I feel with the music."
Having performed Schumann many times over the years, Lisiecki says his music has always immediately made him feel at home. Lisiecki points out that Schumann's concerto, in particular, is perhaps his strongest work of all, "in terms of being confident in his ideas," he adds.
Schumann is up for classical album of the year at this year's Juno Awards.
