'I would never hide the proof of my survival': Measha Brueggergosman on recovering from heart surgery

A few months ago, Canadian soprano Measha Brueggergosman wasn't sure she'd be around to celebrate Christmas. She joined q's Tom Power to talk about her recovery from an emergency double-bypass surgery.

This holiday season, celebrated Canadian soprano Measha Brueggergosman is teaming up with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra for their Holiday Pops concert.

For Brueggergosman, it's a happy ending to a very tough year in which she lost a family member, got divorced and underwent an emergency double-bypass surgery. It's the second time in 10 years that she's needed a life-saving heart operation.

Now Brueggergosman is using her voice to educate women about the early symptoms of heart disease. She joined q's Tom Power from a studio in Halifax to tell us more.

The Toronto Symphony Orchestra's Holiday Pops concerts take place on Dec.10, 11 and 12 at Roy Thomson Hall.
