Steve Jones revisits his Sex Pistols days in new memoir

"I figured you live and then you die and then you're forgotten," says Sex Pistols guitarist Steve Jones. Jones just released his memoir Lonely Boy which chronicles his life from surviving abuse and addiction to playing in punk's most notorious band. "I think it's important to document things and I wanted to document my side of the story," says Jones.

Jones recounts seeing David Bowie perform his last show as Ziggy Stardust. "My thing was if I liked a band I would steal their equipment," he explains. After the show, Jones took a minivan and parked it around the back of the venue. When he sneaked on stage, their roadie was sleeping, "he was snoring his head off." Jones took cymbals, a bass amp and David Bowie's microphone. "It still had his lipstick on it," adds Jones. "I'm not proud of it but that was my connection to rock and roll," and at fifteen that's all he wanted.

Jones says in life, "when you think you've got a plan, that plan never pans out." The guitarist admits, "you don't know what's coming around the corner," and that's okay.
