Intimate video game 'Cibele' explores a woman's budding sexuality
Nina Freeman uses video games to tell deeply human stories, with view to creating unconventional games for poetic types. Her narrative exploration game Cibele follows a young woman's romance with a fellow gamer, which ultimately leads to their first time having sex.
Freeman is part of a growing indie movement that hinges on honest, concise and emotionally resonant stories. The narrative, which is based on the developer's true story, dips into the personal and revealing.
"I want to look at human stories, and sex is a very human thing," she tells Shad, adding that she wanted to create a realistic experience.
"I think many of us have taken sexy selfies, right? I think being honest about that stuff really humanizes the character."
