Madeleine Thien scores another win with the 2016 Scotiabank Giller Prize
Canadian author Madeleine Thien follows up her Governor General's Award win with the Scotiabank Giller Prize.
When Madeleine Thien's name was called last night, as the winner of the 2016 Scotiabank Giller Prize, the Canadian author needed a moment for that news to sink in.
She turned to look at her partner and that was when she realized: "His face was just overflowing with joy."
This marks Thien's second big win of the year for her novel Do Not Say We Have Nothing, following her Governor General's Literary Award for fiction last month. But with so much recognition thrown her way, she admittedly still hasn't "emotionally understood what's happening, but I feel so happy."
