Norwegian artist Aurora is on the hunt for the right songs

It's very fitting that Norwegian singer Aurora refers to the process of songwriting as hunting. 

"It's very fun to be the hunter of the sounds," she tells host Tom Power. "The hunter of the right energy. And it's not really about if every sound is correct, it's more the energy — if it hits you in some way, it doesn't really matter to me if it's not perfect. I'm still very excited while hunting for songs." 

Aurora grew up, as she describes, "in a house in the forest," where she first began writing melodies at the age of six, and lyrics at nine. 

Just a few years ago, Aurora assembled a band and began performing shows which eventually led her to signing to record labels. This year, she released her debut studio album, All My Demons Greeting Me as a Friend.

"It seemed like a very small possibility for me to become an artist," Aurora says, of her ambitions to become a musician growing up. "I didn't have the need to be on the stage, I didn't feel the need to be heard, I just needed to write."
