This year's Governor General's Literary Award winners include Thomas King and Jillian Tamaki.
The winners of the 2014 Governor General's Literary Awards were announced this morning, and they include two authors who have appeared in Studio Q in the past few months!
A few other winners of Canada's oldest literary prize include Andrée A. Michaud for his French novel Bondrée, Michael Harris for his non-fiction book The End of Absence: Reclaiming What We've Lost in a World of Constant Connection, poet Arleen Paré for her collection Lake of Two Mountains , and playwrights Jordan Tannahill and Carole Fréchette.
Thomas King was given the award for Fiction for The Back of the Turtle, his first literary novel in 15 years. He discussed the book on our show back in September.
Illustrator Jillian Tamaki was awarded the prize for Children's Literature (Illustration) for This One Summer, a graphic novel she created with her cousin Mariko Tamaki. They were interviewed together in Studio Q back in May.
A ceremony will be held in Ottawa for the winners next week at Rideau Hall, the official residence and workplace of the Governor General.
