The legendary Quincy Jones and his Canadian protégé Nikki Yanofsky join Jian to discuss the future of great music. Today, we air the radio version. Friday night, our friends at The National will broadcast the video version. We'll add the latter to this post on May 23, following their show.

In part two of an exclusive feature interview, Jian speaks to legendary producer Quincy Jones about his mission to nurture the next generation of talent, including Canada's own Nikki Yanofsky.

Jones considers the multi-talented jazz-pop singer one of his brightest pupils. The two sit down with Jian to discuss Yanofsky's new album ( Little Secret), how inter-generational collaboration is brightening our musical future, and the "passion, humility and creativity" of his carefully curated Global Gumbo Group.

Of Yanofsky and her "it" factor, he says: "you're talking about a very special young person who is rooted in old school."

" It is when God leaves his hands on your shoulders a little longer than he leaves on other people's shoulders and gives them insight and basic passion for what they're doing."
