Richard Linklater's new movie, Everybody Wants Some, takes us back to the filmmaker's college baseball days in the 80s as a kind of sequel to the high school set flick Dazed and Confused — but he doesn't consider himself nostalgic.

Rather, Linklater sees himself as outside of moments he's experienced.

"What was around me seemed like material that I wanted to deal with and shape into something," he tells Shad.

In his college days, Linklater had a baseball scholarship, but similar to one of the characters in the film, he found himself drawn to the arts side of campus.

"I remember a world opening up, meeting actors and people in the drama department ... I felt like I had started to find a second home there."
