Best of Q: Adam Winfield on getting caught up in The Kill Team

The Kill Team's director, Dan Krauss, and documentary subject Adam Winfield on rogue soldiers who hunted Afghan civilians for sport.
Documentary filmmaker  Dan Krauss, and former U.S. infantryman  Adam Winfield join guest host Piya Chattopadhyay to talk about  The Kill Team -- Krauss's award-winning documentary about a rogue group of U.S. soldiers who killed Afghan civilians for sport.

The film centres on Winfield, who tried to alert the military to the war crimes his unit was committing, but was ultimately involved in the killing of an Afghan civilian. In his first media interview about the film, Winfield reflects on the culture of the kill team, his failed attempt to blow the whistle and the illegal command that ultimately landed him a three year sentence from a military tribunal.

"I was terrified. I didn't know what to do, I didn't know what to do at all, and I said okay, I'm going to put my head down, I'm not going to shoot this guy, I don't want to be part of this, but I'm here right now and this is happening, so I need to survive," he tells Piya.
