Making a Murderer feeds appetite for intensive true crime
After spending 18 years in jail for a crime he didn't commit, Steven Avery was exonerated and held up as victim of a broken system. But as his lawyers prepared a multimillion dollar lawsuit, Avery was charged with murder.
Filmmakers Laura Ricciardi and Moira Demos spent a decade turning stones in this shape shifting case. The resulting 10 episode true crime series, Making a Murderer, takes the audience as deep in as observers can go.
The film — which has been compared to Serial and The Jinx — is Ricciardi and Demos' best attempt to translate their life-changing experience. The women tell Shad that, after this investigation, they will never see the criminal justice system the same way again.
Making a Murderer is set for release this Friday on Netflix.
