What are culture vultures discussing 'round the water cooler today? q producer Aparita Bhandari scans the latest arts and entertainment headlines to keep us in the know.

At issue today:

  • Turner Prize finalists announced. Each year 4 British artists under the age of 50 are short listed in what is probably the best known modern art prizes in the world. The aim of the prize is known for sparking heated debate about the value of modern art and this year is no different. Finalists include a rideable model train and a 33-foot-tall sculpture of a man's rear end (pictured above). The $32,000 prize will be announce on December 5.
  • Presidential debate is appointment television. Today's American Presidential debate between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump is set to draw in 75 million views — that's twice the size of Canada. You can watch it on CBC Newsnet, CBC online and hear it on CBC Radio 1.
  • Canada's pick for Oscars' foreign film category chosen. Xavier Dolan's It's Only The End Of The World was panned at Cannes by many American critics back in May, so is this a vindication of sorts?
