Comic Tim Heidecker's new soft-rock album is no joke
Comic Tim Heidecker — known for his straight-faced, absurdist comedy as half of the duo Tim & Eric — has released an album of 70s-influenced country rock.
The album, In Glendale, deals with Heidecker's own life, drawing on his anxieties and worries over such matters as financial security, fatherhood, and that perennial question, "what's next?"
On his foray into the music industry, he tells guest host Gill Deacon that he didn't have any other choice, "Once [the idea is] out there in your head you just have to see it through. You have to figure out what's the best outlet for that."
Heidecker says that this album, like his comedy, comes from a deeper place of being "hyper aware" of the world around him. "Life is absurd and maybe meaningless but yet there are real emotions and real relationships and real things that matter and the question is 'why is that?''"
