When Eugene Levy teamed up with his son Dan to work on the CBC comedy series Schitt's Creek, he was apprehensive.

"In the beginning, I honestly didn't know whether he would hang the acting chops to sustain a character," Eugene says, knowing Dan's strength lied in live shows and comedy sketches from his time working at MTV Canada. "But I trusted him, I had confidence in him and right out of the gate, he came through with a character and performance that just stunned me."

Three seasons in to Schitt's Creek and Eugene's pride for Dan's work on the show has only grown stronger.

"He's way ahead of the game," he adds. "I just back off and let him do his thing; get out of his way."

Season three of Shitt's Creek premieres on CBC TV tomorrow at 9 p.m. ET.
