'It's a farewell to the past': Martha Wainwright looks ahead on her new album
Martha Wainwright talks about her new album, Goodnight City, and how she's looking ahead instead of looking back on her past.
Martha Wainwright has no regrets but she is eager to look ahead instead of dwelling on the past.
Her new album, Goodnight City, is a "farewell to the past," says Wainwright. "I just turned 40 and I'm a mother of two, and I'm hoping that the second half of my life is better than the first half."
Joking that she gets better with time like wine or cheese, Wainwright points at the hopefulness of the album as an important theme.
"There's something new about it," she explains. "There's something forward-looking rather than, perhaps, as navel-gazing as I have been known to be in the past."
