When Tiffany Haddish was a child, she was presented with a choice: comedy camp or psychotherapy.

Haddish — who grew up dodging bullies and surviving the foster care system — chose comedy. It's a choice she says changed her life.

In a wide-ranging and energetic conversation with Gill Deacon, The Carmichael Show actress and standup comic explains how her tough childhood led to her raw brand of comedy. She recalls how Roger Rabbit inspired her to protect herself by making others laugh.

Haddish also shares refreshing perspectives on Hollywood rejections, the power of a good cry, and why it's important to talk about all things taboo.
