Secret sex lives of seniors laid bare in stage show

Older men and women to share personal stories of sexuality and intimacy in a provocative live performance coming to Toronto.

You may not want to think about it, but...come on. You know your parents and grandparents have had sex. And while pop culture would have us ignore the erotic experiences of older lovers, a Toronto-based performance company has brought them right onto centre stage.

Playwright and performance artist Darren O'Donnell (Haircuts by Children, Slow Dance with Teacher) and his company, Mammalian Diving Reflex, have invited older men and women to share personal stories of first crushes, relationships, heartache and intimacy in a live show called All The Sex I've Ever Had

O'Donnell and show participant Bette Logan join Jian to talk about the provocative project, which is set to have its Canadian premiere at the Luminato festival. For its show on home soil, the company is bringing together past participants from around the world.

Monogamy is a myth

Jian asks O'Donnell if he's learned anything universal about sex from the six cities he's taken his show -- including Oldenburg, Bern, Singapore, Glasgow, Prague and Philadelphia -- and the playwright says, yes: monogamy is largely a myth. Here's a glimpse at the Glasgow and Singapore editions of the show. Do you think society is missing out by largely ignoring older people's sexuality?
