City and Colour brings 'If I Should Go Before You' to studio q

Dallas Green and his band deliver a release day performance of his sprawling, intimate new record.

City and Colour started as Dallas Green, alone with his guitar — but the moniker now refers to a full-on band. For his first four albums, Green would write the songs and bring in a rotating cast of musicians to record and tour; but this time he made the album itself with musical accomplices.

If I Should Go Before You, the fifth City and Colour album since 2005, is both intimate and sprawling, tied together by Green's melodic vocals. On its release day, the folk rockers perform two songs from the new album and one old favourite.

Plus, Green joins Shad to explain why he's never truly satisfied, and why his high expectations are double-edged.
