Today's Friday Live Guest is none other than Canadian pianist Chilly Gonzales -- a man who can truly call himself a musical genius. He performs three pieces from Re-Introduction Etudes -- Tarantula, Chaconne and On, and Five Spot -- throughout the show, and also offers insight into the history and technical beauty of each one.
"It's not exactly for beginners, but for people who maybe had a bad teacher who spoiled it for them or, for whatever reason, got interested in other things and at a later date said 'I'd love to pick it back up again'," he tells Jian. "I've just met so many of these pianists."

He performs three pieces from Re-Introduction Etudes -- Tarantula, Chaconne and On, and Five Spot -- throughout the show, and also offers insight into the history and technical beauty of each one.
Gonzales also sits down with Jian to discuss his category-crossing repertoire, his role in two of the most popular albums of 2013 -- Drake's Nothing Was The Same and Daft Punk's Random Access Memories -- and his mission to win back "lapsed" piano students with his Re-Introduction Etudes.
"It's not exactly for beginners, but for people who maybe had a bad teacher who spoiled it for them or, for whatever reason, got interested in other things and at a later date said 'I'd love to pick it back up again'," he tells Jian. "I've just met so many of these pianists." Gonzales also jokes about living in a post-apocalyptic wasteland where being a musician isn't about the art form anymore.
"I have woken up in a nightmare scenario where musicians without a knowledge of music are celebrated, and so I have to be an antidote to that."
