Eliza Skinner is a rap battling comedian on a rising star
When she was in high school, she spent a month speaking only in rhyme. By college, she upped her game.
"In a lot of improv music games, freestyle rap will come up, and they never expect the girl to be able to do it and I'm one of those people that if you say, 'You can't do this,' I'm like, 'Alright, all my other goals are to the side now, I'm only going to work on this thing you told me I can't do.'"
There is no doubt that Eliza Skinner's can-do attitude has helped shape her career and made her a comedian to watch. From performing stand-up, to writing songs for Funny Or Die, to President Obama retweeting one of her videos, to the countless shows she's worked on — like Chelsea Lately and Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell — Skinner is nothing if not a versatile comic.
But back to the rap. While Skinner herself may be a skilled freestyler, she also collaborates with celebrities for those rap battles on The Late Late Show with James Cordon. One celebrity who got particularly into the process? None other than your friend, David Schwimmer.
"I never knew this was my dream as a child, but I think it was — to get pages of rap lyrics from David Schwimmer," Skinner tells Shad.
