Q

We Are The City lied to everyone. (Sort of.)

Vancouver band We Are the City performs from their new record, Above Club, and reveals why that album title is a SHAM.

We Are The City has been telling everyone this super cool story: their latest album is aptly called Above Club because they recorded it in a little room above a nightclub in Serbia.

To prove it, the Vancouver band "live streamed" the entire process online: 24 hours a day, for 3 weeks. That's 360 hours of PROOF.

But here's the thing. They took some creative license.

Today they join Shad to tell the whole truth, the real truth, and nothing but the truth (or so they say). Heads up: the facts involve media conspirators and disguises!

They also perform three songs in studio q. That much we can independently verify.

WEB EXTRA | This is not We Are The City's first rodeo. They love their elaborate projects.

For their first album, High School, the Vancouver band committed to recording a music video for every song.

For their second, they made a companion film in Norway, spoken entirely in Norwegian. (A language they did not know.)

They've sat on a secret for years now. Today We Are The City is ready to 'fess up. (Fabiola Carletti/CBC)
