Friday Live: Daniel Romano comes swingin' through studio q

Daniel Romano came up in the Southern Ontario punk scene — you might recognize him from his time spent fronting Attack In Black or performing with artists like City & Colour. But the alt-country direction he's embraced with his solo work fits him like a cowboy hat.

Though his songs nod to the Nashville greats of decades past (think modern-day Hank Williams), he explains to guest host Gill Deacon that he's not one to look back when it comes to his own music. In fact, he says he hasn't even listened to his new record If I've Only One Time Askin', released in July.

We don't recommend following his lead, though — the album is certainly worth hearing, and he brings its songs to life in studio q as he performs throughout the show and talks to Gill about his evolution from young punk to country crooner.
