Eric Peterson says Canadian culture needs defending
Best of Q: From Street Legal to Corner Gas to the theatrical stage, Gemini Award winning actor Eric Peterson opens up on his distinctly Canadian journey.
In a thought-provoking conversation from the Best of Q, Gemini Award-winning actor Eric Peterson (Street Legal, Corner Gas) joins guest host Candy Palmater to discuss his role in a new production of Anton Checkhov's The Seagull, directed by Chris Abraham.
Peterson reflects on returning to the theatre, his support for arts and culture that are distinctly Canadian, and why he thinks it's important for homegrown creative talent to stay north of the border.
"In cultural terms and in film and television terms, I live in an occupied country," he says. "When I'm in my own home, when I walk out of my home, I look up, and nine times out of 10, I look into the eyes of an American film star."
