Jennifer Aniston breaks type for dark role in Cake

If you know If you know Jennifer Aniston best as quirky, upbeat Rachel from Friends, her latest role may shock you. Indie drama Cake sees the actress taking on her riskiest and darkest character yet: a troubled woman living with chronic pain, loss and addiction.

In a conversation from the Best of Q. The actress joins guest host Candy Palmater to discuss her departure into an emotionally-demanding role, how her talents and interests have changed since her 20s, and the never-ending scrutiny of her life off-screen. 

Aniston, who plays Claire Bennett, a character she describes as a "woman who's stuck," says she couldn't have pulled off this role in her earlier years as an actress.

"You have to have a level of life experience and wisdom to be able to access those parts of yourself... in my 20s, I think I was doing just fine being Rachel."
