Bob Odenkirk on sketch comedy and the legacy of Mr. Show
Comedy heavyweight on 'Better Call Saul' and exciting new collaborations.
Comedy heavyweight Bob Odenkirk joins Jian to talk about the current sketch comedy boom and his new book, A Load of Hooey.
Odenkirk, a former SNL writer who also co-created and co-starred in the HBO series Mr. Show with Bob and David, says that there's "too much sketch comedy" right now, with the resurgence of shows like Key and Peele and Portlandia.
"This is crazy right now," he says ."The sketch comedy is like a fever, it's gone nuts."
Still, the seasoned pro says there are a few key ingredients he keeps in mind when writing a bit. "I fall down, make someone fall down, throw food and swear," he jokes, then adds, "I just do things that make me laugh."
