In White Famous, Jay Pharoah plays a comedian navigating life as his star is rising in Hollywood. The show is based on the experiences of Jamie Foxx, who executive produces the show, but its protagonist is someone Pharoah can also relate to.

This show is seen by some as the former SNL star's breakout role, a place where he can finally extend his skills beyond the many impersonations he became famous for.

Pharoah joined guest host Ali Hassan during this year's Just For Laughs festival in Toronto to discuss his new show, his time at SNL and why he always feels pride when people of colour succeed in the world of film and TV.

White Famous premieres Sunday, Oct. 15, on CraveTV and Showtime. Watch the trailer below.
