Kate del Castillo's play about murdered women in Juarez strikes close to home for the actor who met El Chapo
There are a couple of reasons you may have heard Kate del Castillo's name before, and one of them is because of her connection to the drug lord El Chapo.
A few years ago, the Mexican soap opera star, accompanied by actor Sean Penn, secretly met with international drug lord Joaquín "El Chapo" Guzmán while he was on the run. It's a moment that stopped her acting career and her personal life in its tracks.
Del Castillo's latest project is a one-woman show called The Way She Spoke, which is drawing attention to violence against women in Juarez, Mexico. She joined q's Tom Power to discuss the play and what it's like to come face to face with a drug lord.
The Way She Spoke is out now on Audible.com and Audible.ca.
