Paula Hawkins plumbs emotional depths in her new book Into the Water
Author Paula Hawkins' last book was the international bestseller Girl on a Train. She's back with a new book entitled Into the Water (out now). Speaking with q guest host Ali Hassan, Hawkins talks about the setting of the book in Beckford, a fictional town in England that has a river flowing through it. We learn that the people who live in that town have been hit by tragedy after tragedy as a result of that river — so much so that the river is also known as the Drowning Pool.
The story of the tragic lives and deaths is told from the perspective of 15 different characters. Hawkins talks about the writing process, incorporating so many different points of view addressing difficult subjects such as death, suicide, abuse and trauma in her writing.
