Why this year's Super Bowl halftime show is so fraught with controversy
Every Friday, the q This panel looks at the biggest stories in music news. Today, CBC arts reporter Lisa Christiansen and rapper Cadence Weapon join Tom Power to talk about the Super Bowl halftime show this Sunday.
Maroon 5 is set to take the stage, but their performance has been clouded by stories of other artists who've turned down the gig. Rihanna reportedly refused to perform in a show of support for former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who famously took a knee during the national anthem to protest police brutality and racial inequality in the U.S.
Christiansen and Cadence Weapon also take a look at the Juno Awards nominations which just came out this week, and the curious absence of Drake among all of the categories.
