Kid Koala on writing an entire video game soundtrack for Floor Kids
If you own a Nintendo Switch, you might be familiar with the intro song to Floor Kids, a break-dancing video game. Legendary Canadian DJ Eric San, a.k.a. Kid Koala, is the artist behind that tune. Since the mid-'90s he's been at the forefront of scratch DJing and has become a true-innovator on the outer-limits of double-vinyl exploration. But with Floor Kids, Kid Koala faced a challenge even he'd never seen before — how do you score an entire video game? As he explains, it's not just recording an album, because there's a lot that goes into a video game soundtrack than you might expect. Today, he joins guest host Jael Richardson live in the q studio to talk about how he's collected all of his work on Floor Kids into a soundtrack that's out now.
