The Science Guy is back: Bill Nye combines science and entertainment on his new talk show
Many kids grew up with Bill Nye the Science Guy, a lovable personality who delivered fun science lessons to our TV screens. Almost a decade later, Nye is returning with a new Netflix talk show called Bill Nye Saves the World (out today) that aims to deliver the same sense of science and entertainment to a wider audience.
"What we talk about is more complicated," Nye notes of the difference between his new show and his classic series. "We do not have clear-cut results here; we tackle things that often involve policy decisions that societies make."
For Nye, it's important to educate viewers but also open up a dialogue and engage people. "The essence of science is to ask questions," he adds, explaining why his new show involves a revolving door of guests including Karlie Kloss, Zach Braff, Rachel Bloom and Steve Aoki.
"A show has to be entertaining first," he continues. "But I have a serious message and I hope to construct logical and reasonable arguments that are susceptible to critical analysis."
