While reviewing the planning board, Shad couldn't help but point out a few interviews he's particularly excited about. Here, in his own words, are a few of the guests with whom he can't wait to chat.

(Note: this list doesn't include our exciting TIFF lineup. Look out for another post about that soon!)

1) Sesame Street's Maria: "Maria more or less taught me how to read. Not that I would have remained illiterate otherwise. But you never know."

2) Polaris Prize winner: "This year's short-list is one of the best in the 10 year history of the award for Canada's best album. Plus it's always fun talking to someone that just won 50 thousand dollars."
(UPDATE: We now know the winner! Listen to Shad's chat with Buffy Sainte-Marie.)

3) Margaret "the instigator" Atwood: "I'm not saying she knows the future... but she kind of knows the future."

4) Alabama Shakes: "Already one of the hottest bands on the planet, Shakes' lead singer also just released a side-project under the name Thunderbitch. Yes, I want to talk to them."

5) Yo Yo Ma: "Former child prodigy turned 18-time Grammy award winner. Simply one of the most celebrated musicians in the world."

6) Wendell Pierce: "One of the stars of television epic The Wire also happens to be an ultra-erudite local historian and a leader in rebuilding his native New Orleans. Bunk is the man."

7) Patti Smith: "Your musical hero's hero. Looking forward to learning from a legend."

Shad's stoked for the fall season. Stay tuned for more details about the interviews listed above. (Fabiola Carletti/CBC)
