Winter debuts worth sharing
Battle Scars is a new podcast from Panoply about veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan. It's hosted by comedian, musician and U.S. military veteran Thom Tran. Tran is the heart and soul of this show. His military experience allows him to connect and relate to his guests in a way that gets them to open up about their time in the military (which in many cases...can't be easy). Their responses are candid, often heart wrenching...and surprisingly funny. That's where Tran's comedy experience really comes into play. The result is something so raw and real. There's something incredibly refreshing about listening to something that both captures an experience few of us will understand, while also reflecting the extreme ups and downs of being a human in an intense situation. For that reason I think this podcast, which might seem niche, is something that will appeal to everyone. That's why it's my podcast pick of the week.
