Snap Judgment's Glynn Washington on building empathy and his fave podcasts
This week, we're sharing one of our favourite episodes from October 2020. This episode aired Saturday October 24th and 27th 2020
As the host of Snap Judgment and Spooked, Glynn Washington has made a career out of sharing other people's personal stories. But Glynn himself has plenty of his own to draw from. He's one of those people who has lived many lives all in one. He was a diplomat, an actor, a tax attorney and a nonprofit administrator before launching his career in audio.
Snap Judgment is now in its eleventh season, and its paranormal sibling show Spooked is in its fifth.
With his gift for storytelling and over a decade of experience, Glynn knows where to find the best in podcasting. He joined us from his studio in Oakland, California to share his picks.
Podcasts featured this week.
Snap Judgment - "Writer and performer Jacoby Cochran walked through a Chicago neighborhood and into a time machine. That's where the story begins…"
The Truth - "A woman gets trapped in an interdimensional game show. To leave, she must win the game by figuring out: what's wrong with her?"
The Stoop - "Whether it's the music we hear, the clothes we wear, or the way we talk- a lot of us at some point were made to feel 'not Black enough.' In this episode, we go deep with comedian W. Kamau Bell who's felt awkward in Black circles and before Black audiences."
Ear Hustle - "Tom was a cop; Jason was a teenager in a gang. One night in 1997, they had a violent encounter that Tom describes as "inevitable." In our season finale, Tom and Jason relate the story of that night, and the series of events that unfolded in the years afterward."
