In a time when we are inundated with current affairs podcasts, It's Been a Minute with Sam Sanders bills itself as "a talk show with heart."

While it covers news and culture, the show is unlike other current affairs programs. Sam takes an unconventional approach in his news roundup. Rather than just discussing WHAT'S happening, Sam wants to dig into how we FEEL about the past week.

Joined by other journalists for a weekly roundup, Sam tries to make sense of the world through conversation and infuse the program with as much joy and laughter as possible along the way.

This week, Sam Sanders joins us as a guest curator. You can find his picks below.

Podcasts featured this week:

Spectacular Failures – "Failed therapy sessions, fistfights in the board room and even murder accusations. U-Haul's trip to bankruptcy will make you think twice about mixing business and family."

Planet Money – "In the 1980s, the mafia controlled garbage in New York. So when an Alabama businessman named Lowell Harrelson wanted to turn trash into energy, he found a mob boss. Bought 3,186 tons of garbage, put it on a big ship, and set sail to find a landfill to work with."

The Nod – "Following the release of the biggest superhero film to date, Avengers: Endgame, Brittany makes the case that Oprah has already made a superhero movie that puts ALL others to shame. The Nod goes deep into Oprah's Legend's Ball, which features some of the greatest real life heroes of our time."

It's Been a Minute with Sam Sanders – "English composer, singer, producer and multi-instrumentalist Jacob Collier first gained attention on YouTube in 2012, and since then he's signed to Quincy Jones' record label, won two Grammys and released three albums. The 25-year-old's music is a mix of jazz, neo-soul and funk. He and Sam Sanders talked about his upcoming work, his four-album project, 'Djesse' and using everyday sounds to make songs."
