Perfect podcasts for long summer days
Put on a podcast as you lounge by the pool.
This is Love's latest season delivers a new set of heartfelt stories, but this time from the country of love, Italy. With host Phoebe Judge as our tour guide, the season premiere takes us to a small village called Piobbico where everyone is ugly... and that's okay! Members of Club dei Brutti – otherwise known as The Ugly Club – find solidarity in knowing that their neighbours look just as unattractive as they do. But as cliché as it sounds, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. After joining, people claim to feel better about their appearances. Once you get to its core, The Ugly Club is a space for love and acceptance.
This episode got me thinking about appearance and body image. Sometimes our insecurities can get the best of us, especially during the summer months as people start to talk more about preparing their "summer body" or sharing vacation photos on social media. This episode of This is Love serves up an important reminder to be kind to yourself, flaws and all. That's why it's my pick of the week.
