There are lots of imposters on the Internet. It's easy to hide your identity from behind a screen. But, in this episode of Internet Explorer a story about up and coming R&B star Lucia Cole takes faking it to a whole new level.
With lots of Twitter followers, an album for purchase on iTunes and online features with Music Times and Bossip, it seemed like Lucia Cole was about to break. The only problem was Lucia Cole isn't real. Her photo: stolen from a swim wear designer. Her music: stolen from a 1999 Jessica Simpson album. Internet Explorer tells the whole weird story.

This American Life
Recommended Episode: Simulated Worlds, Dinosaur Exhibit
This 1996 episode of TAL explores fake worlds all across America. It's a great episode all the way through—but the stand out excerpt is Dinosaur Exhibit. In this segment TAL veteran Jack Hitt tells the story of how our vision of what the dinosaurs were like has always been pretty false. Throughout history humans have projected theories about how dinosaurs behaved based on our own values and what's fashionable at the moment. For example, it was commonly believed dinosaurs had a natural state of aggression at the start of World Wars I and II. The episode cleverly explains why a lot of the characteristics commonly believed to exist in dinosaurs, were completely fake.
