Dr. Brian Goldman — veteran ER physician and one of Canada's most trusted medical broadcasters — is releasing his first original podcast.

The Dose with Dr. Brian Goldman is a new weekly series that demystifies health news by tackling popular questions like: What vaccines do adults really need? Does your Fitbit actually make you fitter? Or, should I bother taking vitamins? The Dose cuts through the confusion and delivers straightforward advice in about as much time as an appointment with your doctor.

Goldman hosts the award-winning CBC Radio One program White Coat Black Art and is the bestselling author of The Night Shift: Real Life in the Heart of the ER. His latest book — The Power of Kindness: Why Empathy is Essential in Everyday Life — is a cri de coeur for greater empathy in healthcare and in the world.

Goldman and the folks behind White Coat Black Art have teamed up with CBC Podcasts to launch The Dose in late February.

The first episode dives into BMI and whether it's an effective way to diagnose obesity or even assess one's health. Goldman speaks with Dr. Arya M. Sharma, Scientific Director of the Canadian Obesity Network, to find out.

The Dose releases new episodes on Thursdays starting Feb. 20.

Note: White Coat Black Art will continue to be on air with new episodes.
