On his way home from work one day, Sunny Fong was waiting for a bus at Greenland Station in Toronto when he noticed a man clutching his chest, appearing to be in great pain.

Sunny called an ambulance and informed a Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) officer working at the station of the situation. He got little more than a grumble in response.

The ambulance arrived, blocking and delaying commuters' buses and soon Sunny realized his good deed had caused a major headache for a lot of people.

"There was definitely no positive reaction to it, including the people waiting for the bus to get home from after work, from the TTC officer, to the paramedics, it just seemed like a big angry scenario...it really made me feel a little hopeless for society."

That said, Sunny says he would do it all again because being kind to strangers and acting when something traumatic is happening to someone is "always doing the right thing".

This story appears in the Out in the Open episode "Perfect Strangers". It originally aired on May 7, 2017.
