Now or Never

What's in a name?

We all have a name. Some are chosen for us, others we choose for ourselves. Names can influence our identity or honour our family history, but they can also be a burden that require a lifetime of explanations. So what's in a name? Turns out, a lot more than we may realize.

What does your name say about you? What kind of life does it set you up for?

Trevor and Ify spent went out one afternoon to see how strangers would pronounce their names. (Samantha Samson/CBC)

This week on Now or Never we are asking: What's in a name?

"A bunch of letters!"

That's true, but once those letters have been lived in for a bit, a name takes on much more weight.

Names can influence our identities. They can preserve the history of people and places. But they can also be seen as a burden that comes with a lifetime of explanations

On this week's episode of Now or Never you'll meet a woman who is reclaiming her name and, in turn, her identity.

Listen in as parents, determined to find the perfect name for their unborn child, get some advice from Ify and a professional name consultant.

Find out what host Trevor has in common with another Trevor Dineen, and hear about the struggle of going through life with a name that never truly feels like your own.
