Unless you've watched him on the local CBC News in Montreal or Vancouver, or caught him broadcasting from the Rio Olympic Games last year, you might not know Andrew Chang.

But that's about to change, as he becomes one of the four new hosts of The National.

We got him to answer the questions on our Now or Never list. Read his responses (or listen to them by clicking 'listen' above), then do the list yourself!

Andrew Chang admits to keeping old clothes for too long. Not this new sweater, though. (CBC)

What's one thing you did as a kid that you'd love to do again?

One thing I can't possibly do now is to be completely irresponsible with my time. Since becoming a parent, I've realized how much free time I used to have that I completely squandered. It was glorious to just live with reckless abandon! No schedules, no deadlines, no timelines.

What does a moment of reckless abandon look like for Andrew Chang right now?

Playing with my kids. I have a three-year-old and a six-month-old and I love every minute I spend with them. We horse around and play tag in the house all the time. If that could be my day job, I'd be a happy man.

What's one place in Canada you've always wanted to visit?

Newfoundland and Labrador. I've never been. I knew a whole bunch of people from Labrador back in my university days and they told me so much about it. They introduced me to Screech. I didn't like it but it was an interesting experience. When you throw that stuff back, it burns the whole way down.

Your neighbourhood would be made a million times better if you did what?

I live in a condo complex with hundreds of units and I feel like I could make that neighbourhood a million times better if I got back on the wagon of organizing games nights. I'm a big gamer and I love board games, too. King of Tokyo, it's such a great game.

What's one physical challenge that you want to try this year that you've never done?

I'm doing a virtual race in a few weeks. It's a 10K. It tracks your progress as you go. There's a story that goes along with it so it's more interesting than just running. But the flexibility is the biggest part about it that appeals to me because it's nice to know I can squeeze it in whenever I have the time for it.

Who's the one person you'd like to ask out for coffee?

My wife. I can count on one hand the number of times in the last three years that we've had a chance to get out of the house, just the two of us. When our kids get a couple of years older, those dates will come back slowly but surely.

What's one thing in your life you can't bring yourself to throw away?

My wife is always telling me I need to throw out old clothes. I still wear things that I bought 15 years ago. I'm totally the kind of guy who looks at holes and says, "Those aren't holes, those are air vents."

What's one big thing you want to get done in 2017-2018?

I just want to be really proud of the new National that we're launching. It's gonna be good and we're gonna get it done. That's my goal.
