The 2024 In Defence of Democracy speaker is Connie Walker, a Pulitzer Prize recipient, Peabody Award-winning investigative journalist and host of the acclaimed podcast Stolen: Surviving St. Michael's. She joins IDEAS host Nahlah Ayed to discuss the importance of storytelling in advancing reconciliation, justice and democratic renewal.

Connie Walker is a Pulitzer Prize recipient, a Peabody Award-winning investigative journalist, and the host of the acclaimed podcast Stolen: Surviving St. Michael's.

She's also the 2024 In Defence of Democracy speaker — an event presented by the Samara Centre for Democracy in Toronto on November 14 at the Winter Garden Theatre.  

Walker sits down with IDEAS host Nahlah Ayed to discuss the importance of Indigenous journalists telling their own stories, and how storytelling can advance reconciliation, justice and democratic renewal.
