The Doc Project

One surrogate, two pregnancies, and a lifelong bond

After a particularly devastating loss, a couple trying to grow their family enlists the help of a surrogate. In most cases, people use a surrogate when getting pregnant isn't an option. But for Nancy and Lee, this surrogacy served a different purpose.

In a random unfairness, sometimes our bodies get in the way of our dreams.

For couples who want nothing more than to have a child, this unfairness comes in the form of infertility. And when couples are struggling, they can find themselves doing things they never thought they would do.

Like asking someone they barely know to have their baby.

Nancy Sinclair had always wanted a big family. But after a particularly devastating loss, she was worried she might have to give up on that dream.

"I've always been driven by the fear and the anxiety that I wouldn't be able to have kids."

- Nancy Sinclair

Nancy and her husband Lee decided to enlist an acquaintance as a surrogate.

In most cases, people use a surrogate when getting pregnant on their own isn't an option. But for Nancy and Lee, this surrogacy served a different purpose.
